Mugachi Usal


Time:  

20-25 Minutes
Serves for 2.

Ingredients:

1) ¾ cup mung beans 
2) 1 tsp oil
3) Turmeric powder
4) ½ Cumin seeds
5) ½ tsp mustard seeds 
6) 1 tsp Malvani Masala
7) 1 Onion
8) Ginger garlic paste
9) Pinch of asafoetida
10) 4-5 curry leaves
11) Salt as per taste

Method:

Soak mung beans for 5-6 hours in a warm water.

Drain all the water. Take a cotton cloth and place all mung into it and tie tightly to sprout.

Wash them before making usal.

Heat oil in pan add mustard seeds once it crackles, add asafoetida, cumin seeds, curry leaves and ginger garlic paste.

Add chopped onion stir until it becomes translucent.

Add mung beans, salt and sauté well. Add malvani masala and turmeric powder. And little water.


Cover and cook over medium heat. Do not add too much water.  It will take 15-20 minutes to cook the mung beans.
