Batata Vada


Time :  

20 Minutes (except time to boil the potatoes)
Serves for 2.

Ingredients:

1) 2 Boiled potatoes 
2) 1 cup gram flour
3) Turmeric Powder
4) ½ tsp red chilli powder 
5) ½ tsp Cumin Seeds
6) ½ tsp mustard seeds 
7) 1 tsp Urad dal 
8)  Coriander Leaves
9) Pinch of baking powder
10) 3-4 chopped green chillies
11) 4-5 Curry leaves
12)  2 tsp oil
13) Oil for frying
14) Lemon Juice
15) Salt as per taste. 

Method :

Boil potatoes. Mash the boiled potatoes.

Heat oil in pan for tempering add mustard seeds once it crackle add cumin seeds, curry leaves, and urad dal and ginger garlic paste. Sauté it for 10 seconds.

Add mashed potatoes, add lemon juice, turmeric powder and salt.

Mash with hands and make small balls, flattens it a little and keep aside.


For batter take besan flour in a bowl, add turmeric powder, salt and red chilli powder, also add water and make a batter. Add some baking powder and whisk the batter.


Heat oil in pan for deep frying, put potato balls into the besan batter.


Now drop into hot oil and deep fry until it turns golden brown.
